Rodrigo de Freitas Bueno

Ph.D. in Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering from the Polytechnic School of USP, with a master’s degree in Public Health and specialization in Environmental Engineering from the School of Public Health at USP. Licensed and Bachelor of Biology with an emphasis on Biotechnology and Environment, and specialist in Sanitary Biology and Environmental Microbiology, both recognized by the Regional Council of Biology of São Paulo. Currently, he is an adjunct professor in the Environmental and Urban Engineering course at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), coordinator of the postgraduate course in Environmental Science and Technology at the same institution, a member of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Sustainable WWTPs (ETEs Sustentáveis), and coordinator of the Monitoring Network for Covid-19 in Wastewater of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (REMONAR – MCTI). He has extensive experience in Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, with expertise in domestic and industrial sewage treatment, nature-based solutions, activated sludge process, biological nutrient removal, design and optimization of WWTPs focusing on energy efficiency and resource recovery, molecular biology applied to sanitation, and wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE).
