Gustavo Méndez is a Civil Engineer graduated from the Federico Santa Maria Technical University in Valparaíso, Chile, with a degree equivalent to a Master’s in Civil Engineering, where he also conducted research in mathematical models for hydrological simulation and completed postgraduate studies in mathematical methods applied to Civil Engineering. He is currently a Lead Specialist in the Water and Sanitation Division of the IDB, coordinating and leading the team responsible for all operations in Brazil. Previously, he worked for over 14 years as a Senior Sector Specialist for Latin America at the German Development Bank (KfW). For six years, he was the Sector Coordinator for the German Government for the Peru sector. Gustavo has extensive sectoral work experience in most Latin American countries, such as Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and others.
